30 January 2015

A lot of emphasis is placed on setting personal resolutions in the New Year but little attention is paid to all important corporate resolutions.

We are well beyond the 1st of January mark and the dreaded ‘fail Friday’ when most people are said to have given up on their resolutions; but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to review organisational goals. In fact, coming out of the bleakness of January can still be a highly constructive time to get really positive about the year ahead.

If better resource efficiency, greater sustainability, enhanced competitiveness and improved environmental performance could be of interest to your business (and I defy anyone to explain why they would not be) then it’s also time to make VIBES part of your organisation’s plans for 2015.

Now in its 16th year, the “Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland” (VIBES) Awards reward and showcase businesses taking steps to improve their impact on the environment and strengthen their operations in the process. There are a number of ways Scottish businesses can get involved this year, from sponsoring the awards to entering one or more of the seven categories. Either gives your company exposure, in the context of a positive cause, as well as giving access to a wider network of organisations also committed to reducing their impact on the environment.

Over the years, VIBES winners have included large employers such as BAE Systems, Muller Wiseman Dairies and Albert Bartlett + Sons Ltd, to small independents such as Jessie Mac’s B&B and Rabbie’s Small Group Tours.

We’ve even made a resolution of our own to further encourage the great work being done by Scotland’s businesses in becoming more environmentally aware. To that end, we are looking forward to working with Scottish businesses of all sectors to help them realise their achievements. Whether you’re a small independent business to a large employer, VIBES wants to hear from you to see how we can help encourage best practice and publicise the benefits gained by organisations – just like yours.
