Aberdeen Heat And Power – the continuing story

It is almost 14 years, since this company was foreseen

To deliver affordable heat to a’ the folks o’ Aiberdeen

To choose a name that was quite apt the brain cells they did scour

To form a wee not-for-profit company, called Aberdeen Heat & Power

The company has progressed apace with projects across the toon

At the behest o’ the City Council, it’s the best there is aroon

We’re tackling fuel poverty, that’s plain for all to see

Through the efficiency o’ district heating, powered by CHP

Seaton folk, Denburn folk, Torry folk and Ashgrove folk

Folk fae Hazlehead and folk fae Mastrick Land

Woodhill, Rosehill, Cornhill, and Stockethill,

We’re supplying heat for Aberdeen folks, and they a’ think it’s grand

Apart from domestic housing, of other connections we can tell

To some public buildings we supply the heat, and some wi’ electricity as well

The system grows, the system expands, we’re performing quite a feat

We really are excelling ourselves in delivering our heat

We’re now well into our second decade, and the future it looks quite rosy

We hope that we can continue, to keep Aberdeen residents cosy

A subsidiary company we now have formed, to help us to expand

Into the commercial sector, the future is in our hands

Seaton folk, Denburn folk, and now there is some Tilly folk

Folk fae Hazlehead and folk fae Mastrick Land

Woodhill, Rosehill, Cornhill, and Stockethill,

We’re supplying heat for Aberdeen folks, and they a’ think it’s grand

In our first 12 years, we’ve climbed to the top thanks to a great wee team

In Scotland we’re seen as a leading light, in district heating we are the cream

Our directors, and services financial and legal, have never been ones to shirk

Our designers and staff and our contractors as well, they’ve a’ made this project work

We’re now well placed to expand our net with new projects and if that’s not enough

The heat is on to the city centre, and we’re ready to do our stuff

To connect more folks with affordable heat, that is still oor aim

With subsidiary DEAL we’ll carry that out, we’ll really up oor game

Seaton folk, Denburn folk, and now there is some Tilly folk

Folk fae Hazlehead and folk fae Mastrick Land

Woodhill, Rosehill, Cornhill, and Stockethill,

We’re supplying heat for Aberdeen folks, and they a’ think it’s grand

And now we have a top award, for VIBES Product and Service we took the lead

The ceremony in Edinburgh, was a grand affair indeed

Our success we can now celebrate, as evidenced by a wonderful plaque

Onwards and upwards we must progress, there’s really now no going back!

So we’re here tonight to celebrate, for being a proud VIBES winner

To socialise, and have a wee drink, and have a really excellent dinner

The VIBES sponsors and partners, we have to thank, without them this just wouldn’t gel

We’ll raise a glass to them in appreciation, cos didn’t they do well!

SEPA folk, Sustainable Practice folk, Stirling Uni folk and Brand Rex folk

Folk from Scottish Power and folk from EMEC we have seen

Lothian Buses, Scottish Gov’t, Zero Waste and Pernod Ricard

They’re our Sponsors for the VIBES awards, oh aye, and then we have Macsween!

Ian Booth, Chief Executive Officer, Aberdeen Heat and Power
