Scottish businesses gain recognition at the European Business Awards for the Environment 2014.
Two Scottish businesses were announced as runners up at the prestigious European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) ceremony held in Lyon last night. The Awards recognise European companies that have made an outstanding contribution to sustainable development; those whose activities contribute to economic advancement without detriment to the environment.
The Bay Fish and Chips, Stonehaven and Vegware were presented with their awards by the European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. They secured their entries to EBAE through first winning an award at the Vision in Business for the Environment (VIBES) Awards and were part of the 16 finalists selected from 152 entries, originating from 22 European Union Member States and candidate countries.
The Bay Fish and Chips was runner up in the Management Category. Commenting on the entry, the European Jury said, “the Bay leads by example within its local community with step-by-step processes for sourcing, marketing and managing deliverables, giving this traditional business a new and innovative platform” The Jury were impressed by Vegware’s “continued commitment to developing further compostable packaging through its R&D programme”. Vegware was runner up for the Product and Service Award for its innovative and fully sustainable recycling solution to the catering and hospitality sectors.
