20 November 2014
It’s just one week to go until the 2014 VIBES Awards ceremony takes place in Glasgow’s Central Hotel. The ceremony will see finalists from across the country get together for the unveiling of this year’s VIBES winners.
Once again, the calibre of our finalists has been extremely impressive and reflects on Scotland’s enthusiasm for putting sustainability at the heart of business practices, regardless of size or sector. We pride ourselves in recognising the contribution of these businesses to Scotland’s economy by rewarding those who use sustainable practises to the benefit of their bottom line. I’d like to congratulate all of our finalists in getting this far in what is a particularly rigorous judging process.
Each of our finalists, as well as submitting detailed applications, has received a visit from our panel of judges, which feature some of the country’s leading environmental practitioners.
As a result of this process, each of our 2014 winners will be eligible to enter the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBEA), showcasing their efforts on the European stage. Previous VIBES winners have had great success at the EBEAs, with six of the UK’s 12 entries comprising previous VIBES Awards winners and the UK’s only finalists, Vegware and Bay Fish and Chips, also coming through the VIBES Awards, putting Scotland firmly on the map in terms of sustainable business practices in Europe.
I personally am very much looking forward to meeting all of our finalists, and congratulating our very deserving winners next Thursday.
Gillian Bruce, VIBES Chair, SEPA
