Jane Bond, VIBES coordinator, announces the 2015 shortlist

It’s been a busy summer for the VIBES team following a record number of entries to this year’s awards. The judging has taken place and we are pleased to announce that 27 Scottish businesses have been shortlisted for our 16th annual awards ceremony.

This year we received a wide range of superb entries from businesses of all sizes and sectors, which not only challenged our judging team but more importantly, demonstrated the diversity of companies contributing to Scotland’s sustainability – something which we are keen to highlight through the VIBES Awards. It is often considered that sustainable changes can be costly and timely to implement when they can in fact enhance a business’s competitiveness and save money while supporting wider social benefits. The shortlisted businesses all show how small changes can make a big difference.

The companies vying for a green award include Diageo and Clearfleau, house builder Taylor Wimpey and City Car Club, as well as Clyde Shopping Centre and live shellfish storage and transport provider, Lobster Pod. All 27 businesses will attend a special ceremony on the 26th November 2015 at the Sheraton Edinburgh Hotel, where the winners of all eight categories will be announced.

Awards will be presented for Management (SME and Large), Environmental Product or Service, Transport, Co-operation, Hydro-Nation, and Circular Economy. The best entry to any category from a company with less than 10 employees will win the Micro Business Award.

Sponsoring the awards this year are Scottish Government, ScottishPower, Zero Waste Scotland, Brand-Rex, EMEC, Pernod Ricard Chivas Regal, Lothian Buses, Centre for Sustainable Practice & Living and The University of Stirling Management School.

On behalf of everyone at VIBES, I would like to congratulate our 2015 shortlist and look forward to celebrating with them at the ceremony later this year.

The judging team will be busy over the coming weeks undertaking site visits in order to decide November’s winners.
